Crowns & Bridges in Kingsport, TN

Patients may need a crown or bridge for any one of a variety of reasons. Generally, we use a crown to strengthen and protect a damaged tooth and a dental bridge to fill the space left by a missing tooth.

We are here to help you make the decision about having a crown or bridge placed. Dr. Hagan wants you to be an active part of your dental care because we want the outcome to meet – and exceed – your expectations

When you are here with us, Dr. Hagan devotes his attention to you and you alone. He will take all the time you need to understand why treatment is necessary and all the options available to you.

What Types Of Crowns Do You Offer?

A dental crown is the most efficient way to restore an impaired tooth while retaining its original root structure. We can choose from a variety of materials to create dental crowns. The material we recommend is based on the location and function of the tooth as well as your personal preference.

All-porcelain crowns are popular because the material has the same translucent qualities as dental enamel. Since they look so natural, Dr. Hagan uses tooth-colored crowns to create a seamless repair that blends perfectly with your smile.

However, if you need a crown on a molar that withstands a lot of force, you may benefit from a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown.

We don't make a lot of gold crowns anymore, but it is still a highly durable material that's ideal when a very durable restoration is needed.

What Is the Function of a Dental Crown?

Crowns are very versatile, and there are many different ways in which we can use them. A few of these include:

  • Reinforcing a tooth after a root canal procedure
  • Protecting a tooth after a large filling
  • Restoring a tooth that is cracked or badly worn
  • Functioning as the replacement tooth in a dental implant
  • Concealing cosmetic problems like severely stained teeth

How Do You Place a Dental Crown?

The procedure for placing a dental crown starts with taking impressions of your teeth. The impressions are used to create a highly accurate model that we use to create a temporary crown. The model is then sent to a dental lab where skilled technicians create your customized crown.

Our dental crowns are customized to fit into your mouth naturally. We will closely match the size, shape, and color of surrounding teeth for a seamless appearance. When the final crown is ready, we’ll have you return to our Kingsport dental office, where we will make any necessary adjustments before cementing the crown in place.

Tooth Replacement with Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a restoration that we use to fill the space left by a missing tooth. It consists of an artificial tooth suspended between two crowns that are attached to adjacent teeth.

The process for placing a bridge is similar to that of a dental crown. We will follow the same steps to deliver a restoration that looks natural and blends in with your smile.
