Introduction to Dental Implants

Most patients that I talk to have heard of the term, “dental implants.” However, not many of them have a good understanding of what they are and how they can benefit from them.

Dental implants are basically replacements for missing teeth. Depending on a patient’s needs, they can be used to hold an individual crown in place, they can function to replace several teeth as part of a bridge, or they can be used to anchor a complete denture.

The implants themselves are titanium. They are placed with minimal discomfort in areas where a patient may be missing teeth. After being left undisturbed for a while, bone grows around the implant, and it becomes almost like a part of the body.

Implants never develop decay and never require root canals. They can help people of any age, and will allow you to eat the foods you love. They will also help you talk, smile, and laugh with confidence.

If you are missing teeth, and would like to see if dental implants are an option for you, call our office at (423) 239-8021. We would love to talk to you.
